Description
The mission of the MBRC is to foster the growth of the marine biotechnology sector through research, development and technology transfer in the life sciences. The MRBC conducts targeted research on extracts, ingredients and active molecules of marine origin and technology transfer to industry.

- - Collaboration with the CQVB to launch the BioMar-Innovation Consortium.
- - Implementation of a bioguided approach to fractionation of marine biomass from Quebec’s fisheries and aquaculture
- - Submission of two patents concerning marine oils with improved physicochemical properties
- - Establishment at the MBRC of in vitro testing systems for anticancer, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
- - Hosting 15 companies that work on-site at the MBRC, as well as working with over one hundred companies and organizations and with the promoters of ten new companies

- An establishment license from Health Canada for the implementation of the work mode of Good Laboratory Practice on drugs and medicines (pharmaceuticals) (# 101316-A) - Recognition NSERC to fund student internships industrial 1st round and 2nd round of university and post-doctoral position. - A recognition of the Ministry of Finance of Quebec recognized as a center of research and development to enable businesses to maximize tax credits for R & D. - Two laboratory accreditation for microbiological containment level 3 or Health Canada and the Canadian Food - Establishment License from Health Canada to conduct work using good laboratory practices applicable to natural health products and pharmaceutical products (# 101316-A). - Recognition from the NSERC enabling the financing of industrial internships for undergraduate and graduate students and of industrial post-doctoral programs. - Recognition from Quebec’s ministry of finance as an accredited R&D centre, allowing companies to maximize their R&D tax credits. - Two accreditations for the biosafety level 3 microbiology laboratory from Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (biosafety related to the microbiologic testing of products).
